MAUMEE ROTARY CLUB DONATES VAN TO CHURCH IN SLIDELL, LOUISIANA

"The ceremony turning over the van to the Mt Olive Food Bank went very well.  It was held immediately after the Mt Olive Sunday worship service. The emotion was wonderful and the thank you were so many. We had 9 Rotarians at the ceremony.  Some of whom were Neil Alford, District Governor; Mike Rich, President of the Rotary Club of Slidell Northshore; Kevin Pearson, President of the Rotary Club of Slidell; myself  Don O'Bryan, Assistant District Governor and Chairman of the Katrina Relief Fund for the Rotary Clubs of Slidell.  Also, the President of Inner Wheel Slidell, Nancy O'Bryan, my wife, was there.  Additionally, there was a reporter form the major newspaper in the New Orleans metropolitan area, the Times Picayune.

The arrival of the van could not have come at a better time.  The repairs to a building and conversion of it into a temporary feeding facility are almost complete.. The Feeding program is scheduled to restart on March 27.  Now that they have transportation, their meals-on-wheels will start that same date.

Miss Lydia, the lady who manages the Mt Olive Food Bank told me to give you and your Club a "Special Thanks".  And, when you come to Slidell she will treat you to some of her gumbo.  She is a great cook.
Again, thank you and your fellow Rotarians for your wonderful gift to the needy in our community."

Don O'Bryan
