Maumee Rotary has made a difference in Mazatanengo, Guatemala.

Hello, I am Staff Sergeant Sandoe with the 748th Civil Affairs Battalion out of Miami, FL. Recently I was supporting a joint medical mission to the Sachetepuquez district in Guatemala. Many of the soldiers participating in the mission brought additional clothes and school supplies in their own personal luggage to give to less fortunate children such as those in orphanages.

As a result we visited the home you support in Mazatenango. I was extremely impressed we the facility. The cleanliness of the facility and the professionalism of the staff was amazing. I have worked in homeless shelters in the US that could learn a lesson of two from them.

It was very encouraging to see the spirit of charity being used in such a positive manner. I just wanted to commend your organization for the support you have provided to the children of Guatemala.

By the way, we ended up donating the supplies and clothing to a very impoverished set of schools in the countryside of Mazatenango since we felt that they were in much more need there. SSG Sandoe
