Maumee High School Interact
About Us.....

Are you ready for something really big?

Rotary is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. Approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 31,000 Rotary clubs located in 166 countries. As a Maumee High School Interact Club member, you'll be part of this great, 100 year old worldwide movement.

The first Interact club was initiated in 1962 by the Rotary Club of Melbourne, Florida, USA. Two months later, the first Interact club outside the United States was established in Tanjore, India. Today there are more than 6,650 Interact clubs in some 103 countries and geographical areas, making Interact a truly worldwide phenomenon.

We're also about Maumee...

For 55 years, the Maumee Rotary Club has made our community a safer, better, place to live. We started Safety City to teach children about street safety, and we built the concession stand at Rolf Park. Our Senior Citizen Center has a van we bought them to reach out to elderly who cannot drive. Maumee Rotary Club's service touches an orphanage we built in Guatemala and villages in Vietnam that have clean water and new schools. And we take people from Maumee to these remote places around the world to build bridges of hope and world peace.

And now Interact is taking it one step further.  In the past two years, we have raised money for wells in Vietnam, cancer patients, and the Salvation Army.  We have helped our community through events and projects like Claire's Day, Habitat for Humanity, Ohio Reads, and so much more.

We're all about our goals...

These are the goals that are listed in the Standard Interact Club Constitution:

  1. To recognize and develop constructive leadership and personal integrity.
  2. To encourage and practice thoughtfulness of and helpfulness to others.
  3. To create an awareness of the importance of home and family.
  4. To build respect for the rights of others, based on recognition of the worth of each individual.
  5. To emphasize acceptance of individual responsibility as the basis of personal success, community improvement, and group achievement.
  6. To recognize the dignity and value of all useful occupations as opportunities to serve society.
  7. To provide opportunities for gaining increased knowledge and understanding of community, national, and world affairs.
  8. To open avenues of personal and group action leading to the advancement of international understanding and goodwill toward all peoples.

Who are we? We are Interact.

The name was created by combining the words "international" and "action." Interact clubs are sponsored by Rotary clubs as a program of Rotary International. Rotary clubs provide guidance and inspiration, but the Interact clubs are self-governing and self-supporting.
